Tänään oli sitten se Päivä, jota on odotettu.
Haastatteluaika konsulaatissa. Itse haastatteluun meni suhteellisen
hyvin lyhyt aika. Koko vierailu kesti 1 h 50 min, josta aikaa meni
turvatarkastukseen, odotteluun, tarvittavien papereiden esittelyyn,
visa-käsittelymaksun maksamiseen, odotteluun, sormenjälkien antamiseen
(ei otettu lapselta), odotteluun ja itse haastatteluun (ei kysytty
mitään lapselta). Minun opiskelutodistusteni kopioita ei tarvinnut
jättää, koska ne katsotaan vain päähakijalta. Muuten meilllä oli kaikki
tarvittavat paperit, kun eilen tuli haettua lääkäriasemalta sinetöity
kirjekuori lääkärinlausuntoineen. Ja nämä paperit sitten jäivät heti
alkuun konsulaattivirkailijalle tarkastettavaksi passiemme kanssa.
Haastatteluun olin netin keskustelupalstojen perusteella
ennakkoasennoitunut vähän siten, että minulta ei kysytä mitään ja voin
vain nyökytellä taustalla. No, netin tietoon ei siis kannata luottaa.
Kysyivät ensin päähakijalta, eli puolisolta, avioliittomme kestoa ja
hänen ammatistaan ja mitä aikoo tehdä USA:ssa. Nämä kaksi viimeistä
kysymystä kysyttiin myös minulta. Itse haastatteluun meni siten ehkä n. 7
minuuttia. Kuulemma paperit ja kaikki ovat ok, tekevät kuulemma vielä
jotain tarkistuksia ("name check", mitä sitten lieneekään?) ennen kuin
voivat liittää visat passeihin ja laittaa ne meille kaiken muun
materiaalin kanssa. Puhuivat siellä konsulaatissa koko ajan "Visa
packagesta", joten nähtäväksi jää kuinkakohan iso paketti sieltä onkaan
tulossa. Me jätimme ohjeen mukaiset vastauskuoret kyllä vain
A4-kokoisena..
Niin ja puoliso soitti konsulaatista päästyämme kiinteistövälittäjälle. Nyt pitää laittaa tuulemaan, sillä viisumi on voimassa 6 kk ja sen jälkeen on turha mennä maahanmuuttoportteja kolkuttelemaan, koska viisumit on sen jälkeen auttamattomasti vanhentuneet.
Today was the Day, interview day and sort of the last day of this process. The interview was really quick. We were in the consulat for 1 hour 50 minutes and from that the interview was probably 7 minutes. The rest of the time was a security check, waiting, presenting our papers, paying the visa fee, waiting, giving fingerprints (not from the child though), waiting and the interview (not the child though). I did not have to present my high school or university diplomas since I am not the main applicant, my husband is. We had all the necessary papers, so I guess this is why the interview did not take so long. We picked the sealed envelope from the doctor's office yesterday, so I guess they were ok, too. All these papers and our passports are now in the consulate. I had searched some info about the interview process from the interview, so because of that information I had the impression that they would not ask me practically anything. Well, everything is not true that you can read in the Internet. First they asked the main applicant, my husband, how long have we been married and then about his job and plans in US. The last two questions were asked from me too. No problem, since the questions were easy. They said that our papers are okay, but they are still going to do a name check (?), whatever that means before they will print the visa and send us our passports and other material. They are talking about the "visa package" at the consulate, so we'll see, how big it will be..
After the consular office visit, hubby called the real estate agent. The visa is valid for 6 months and there is no use in immigrating after that. So, we have to act before that or abort the plan. So, it's full steam ahead at the moment.
